WOKA LAMPS VIENNA new since 1900
Handmade reproduction of exclusive lighting-fixtures from the early 20th century.
WOKA Lamps are handmade in Vienna with original tools according to designs by famous architects of the 20th century using the highest quality materials, subject to a series of tests before being offered for sale. Every lamp is a unique piece, that is why we ask you not to compare our lamps with mass-produced products.
Materials:
1. Glass: We use opaline flashed glass. The lamp-shade is mouth-blown, little bubbles don't lower the value of this glassware.
2. Brass: The material we use is exclusively solid brass, the surface is optionally polished and varnished or nickel-plated (slightly warmer than chrome). The lamps have solid sand-cast parts - they can have some imperfections which you won't find in mass-produced products.
Sometimes there may appear dark spots (after being lacquered), that don't lower the value of the brass as it is significant part of this material. Polishing of these spots is not possible as this would remove the varnish from the spot.
3. Nickel has a warm silvery surface which will oxidize in time to the yellowish glow of the originals. Nickel is soft and tends to get scratched. Cleaning and polishing can be done with an impregnated polishing-cotton e.g. "Metarex".
As brass is rather soft some parts of the lamp can be bented by packing. In this cas please try and bend it back into the former position. In most of the cases a complaint is not necessary.
All lamps are inspected twice: after manufacture and again before packing. Any defects should be reported to us in writing within 8 days of purchase, and the control slip and a copy of the delivery note should be enclosed. Images are always helpful.
Please contact us within 3 days regarding any transportation damages and keep the original packaging - we have to contact the carrier within this period. Later complaints will not be accepted by the carrier.

Each one of the massive cast elements of these lamps is manually moulded in sand. After casting, the mould is used up and has to be replaced.
The smooth tubes are passed through old moulding tools to obtain the required profile. The polishing of the brass is extremely elaborate as the object is pressed against a slowly turning textile-wheel, covered with polishing compound. After the polishing the brass part is to be either varnished or nickel-plated. Apart from these versions, every surface will be offered with an additional charge.
The glasses are hand-blown. In order to obtain the desired form, they are blown into a wet, constantly turning wooden mould.
Cheap imitations differ from WOKA LAMPS VIENNA through the use of inferior material but, above all, they are the result of industrial mass production.
Distinguishing marks of WOKA LAMPS VIENNA are, apart from a flair of solidity, the punch on the lamp as well as the enclosed certificate of authenticity filled in by the craftsman.
