Maximilian Kurzweil  

1867-1916

Kurzweil, Maximilian, b. Bzenec, Czech Republic (then Bisenz), Oct. 12 (or 13), 1867, d. Vienna, May 9, 1916 (suicide), painter and graphic artist, son of a manufacturer.

Moved to Vienna (1879) and studied at the Vienna Academy under C. Griepenkerl and L. C. Müller . From 1891 regular stays in France.

Member of the Vienna Secession movement, taught at the Vienna Art School for Women; contributed to the magazine "Ver Sacrum".
